Bring on the Christmas back -ups: Santa v Darkseid!? - by Ty Templeton.
In my last blog I presented a fun little 2 page Christmas tale by Ty Templeton of a Satanic ritual gone wrong featuring Jack Kirby's Demon character from "DCU Holiday Bash" issue 1. Well, in the second issue of "DCU Holiday Bash" (1998) Ty went one better and produced an even funnier story featuring another of Jack Kirby's great characters, the mighty Darksied!

The Shock of the New: Batman and Robin: Year One - by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee

Nearly a half-century on I still consider 1973 to be the year that cemented my destiny in becoming a lifetime comic book fan. It was a yea...
That's one dedicated Santa Claus! My favorite line is the guy Darkseid is torturing thanking him for sparing his life. Sheesh! Kirby created the ultimate villain for us all to savor. Just so long as he stays in the comics. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteKirby certainly knew how to create universe spanning villains Rip. Have a great Christmas.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Paul, and to everyone who reads the blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks Colin, have a great Christnas as well and all the best for 2023.
ReplyDeleteApologies for missing your Holiday Bash postings McScotty - both great choices. I think Ty Templeton is an unsung hero. I love his cartoony style and the humour he brings in his contribution to the DC universe - particularly Batman. I have all of the various Batman Adventures variations from the 1990s and early 2000s which contain his work, but missed out on the Holiday Bash annuals.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great Christmas, Paul, and am looking forward to your blog in 2023.
Some of Ty's Batman Adventure ( and others) covers are excellent. I only picked up these "Holiday Bash" titles in a 3 comics for £2 pack so the Ty art was a nice surprise. Have a great holiday and 2023.
